Kaokoland & Damara Land Information
Kaokoland is a large, dry and rocky region in the north of Namibia, between the Angolan border and Etosha National Park. Despite its general aridity there are some rivers as well as falls, particularly the Ruacana and Epupa Falls on the Kunene river.
Kaokoland is also home to the Himba people as well as a variety of elephant that has adapted to its desert environment by being able to go without water for several days as well as being much less destructive to vegetation than normal elephants.
Further to the south is Damaraland that include the Brandberg, Twyfelfontein and the burntout mountain, organpipes and petrified forest.
