Etusis Lodge

Etusis Lodge and horse farm is only a 2.5 hours’ drive from Swakopmund or Windhoek, situated in the Etusis Nature Reserve which covers more than 21,000 hectares.

Experience the most memorable moments of your journey during a horseback ride on a Basotho Horse, a game drive or a hike in the hills of the Etusis Nature Reserve. Enjoy magnificent Namibian sunsets while sipping your sundowner. Relax at the pool in our little green oasis in the middle of the semi-desert. We offer different kinds of accommodation, ranging from camping and self-catering options to private bungalows with half board. Some of our bungalows are wheelchair-accessible.

The word “Etusis” describes a “place where you can dive down deeply” and refers to a lake below a waterfall which can be found in walking distance from the lodge. The stunning landscape and its tangible history make a stay at Etusis a very special experience.

Accommodation - Bungalow

Enjoy restful nights in a beautiful and quiet setting in one of our seven grass-roofed bungalows. All of them have their own shower, WC, mini-bar, electric kettle and remote-controlled air conditioning.

Our bungalows are very much part of their surroundings and fit harmoniously into the stunning landscape.

Families of up to four persons find ample space for a comfortable stay; an additional baby crib is available on request.

Two of our bungalows are wheelchair-accessible and well suited for people with impairments.

Accommodation - Luxury Tent

Make your stay special by spending the nights in one of our luxury tents with a beautiful view of the mountains. Located at a distance from each other, the tents give you the tranquility and privacy you are looking for. Most tents are en-suite.

Accommodation - Farmhouse

To the south, our farmhouse offers a breathtaking view far across the savannah and beyond to the Kudu Mountains and the Komas Highlands. The view to the north is dominated by the Otjipatera Mountains.

The house has three double rooms and one single room, each with a private bathroom. All rooms share a large living- and dining room as well as a kitchen with a fridge, stove and pantry.

The farmhouse is well suited for self-catering. However, the distance to the lodge is just 300 meters, and you are welcome to dine in the lodge restaurant, use the pool and join the game drives or any other activity on offer. Please note that prior booking for meals and activities is necessary.

If you would like to stay in the farmhouse, please contact us and let us know your travelling details. Bookings for the farmhouse require a minimum occupancy of two people.

Accommodation - Campsite

For those wishing to be truly close to nature, we have a campsite with six well-placed and lovingly maintained individual sites. The sites have sun shelters and share a small ablution block. Enjoy nature with all your senses, experience a gorgeous sunset and start the night with a crackling camp fire.

Dining

You dine in our comfortable restaurant or on the large patio outside with a view of the nearby waterhole which attracts various bird species as well as larger animals.

We serve home-made dairy products and vegetables from our own garden. Bread and cakes are home-baked. Any beef and pork on the menu will be from our own farm; game meat is supplied by the surrounding hunting concessions.

Activities - Horse Riding

Whether you are an expert or have never been on a horse in your life we will find the right horse for your level of experience and match duration, distance and speed of the ride with your abilities and wishes.

Even “non-riders” will be able to enjoy a ride across the seemingly endless plains in the saddle of a reliable Basotho Horse or Arabian Horse. One of our 20 saddle horses will be suitable for you.

Family walks with a horse on a lead-rope are also great fun. You can alternate between walking and sitting on the horse. One of the favourite destinations for such outings is the waterfall.

Activities - Hiking

Explore the surrounding flora and fauna as well as the many geological features on a guided tour or on your own. Multi-day hikes are possible as well; simply stay in one of our huts within the Etusis Game Reserve.

Ask us for hiking-maps. Our hiking trails are suitable for all levels of fitness and ability. Always ensure you take plenty of water with you, wear a hat and appropriate shoes. Radio devices are available on request.

Activities - Game Drive

Enjoy the breathtaking and varied scenery of Namibia! At Etusis we offer different tours in off-road vehicles. See wild animals such as mountain zebras, antelopes, chameleons, baboons and colourful birds, and learn about the truly amazing geology. And – of course – a sundowner drink is included in our evening drives.
