Otjiwarongo Information

Otjiwarongo, meaning "pleasant place", began as a military post in 1904 during the German colonial war with the Herero people and is now one of Namibia's larger towns.

When the narrow gauge railway from Swakopmund to the Otavi copper mine reached Otjiwarongo in 1907, a settlement began to develop which has become one of Namibia's larger towns.
